Hibiscus E-Commerce App
Hibiscus is a one stop shop e-commerce app for all things plants and gardening. It encourages people to invest more in gardening as well
as support small businesses, with a simple way to get everything they need in one place. The app is designed with simplicity and clear navigation in order to create the best user experience. The final prototype showcases the user task flows of a buyer, as well as a
business owner setting up an account.
Research
Benchmarked different e-commerce apps to understand existing app standards and interface flows. Chose to reference Amazon as a universal app, and Redbubble, a smaller app for independent creators.
User Personas
Created two personas of varying experiences and demographics. Each persona has a task flow that serves as the starting point for the overall design of the app.
Brian's task flow highlights the actions that an average buyer (Brian) would take to add items to a shopping basket. This task flow is based on Brian having utilized the app a few times before and wanting to easily find a specific business to browse.
Molly's task flow focuses on the onboarding process that a new seller/business takes to set up an account and showcase products for sale.
Logo Process
Created a simple Hibiscus flower graphic which reflects the name of the app. The many vibrant colors of Hibiscus plants relates to the many unique sellers supported by the app.
Paper Prototyping
Began to establish the information architecture within the app through paper prototyping. Utilized a tabbed view with consistent bottom header main navigation, combined with hierarchy within each tab.
Digital Wireframes
Created initial digital wireframes, focusing on the simple necessities for each persona’s task flow.
